Data-entry operators at Strategic Marketing & Research, Inc., (SMARI) are experienced and efficient. A variety of accuracy verification checks and balances are used.

Coding

Coding is a formal process that translates raw answers into a simpler and more readily countable form. SMARI uses standardized coding procedures to maintain consistent, high quality processing of raw data, both quantitative and qualitative.

Data Enhancement Coding

We can also attach a syndicated geodemographic or psychographic segmentation code to respondents in order to provide additional information beyond the scope of the survey.

Scanning

SMARI employs complex image and character recognition scanning techniques to improve our ability to interpret the letters and numbers appearing on written surveys.

Tabular Reporting

Tabular reporting is the process of patterning data into useful summary tables. This often includes tables displaying the number and percentage of observations in various categories.

Data Mapping

Occasionally geographic information about the respondents to a survey is important. SMARI uses specialized mapping software to produce colorful visual maps depicting where respondents are located.
